When in-person ID verification has been requested, we will send a registered letter to the customer’s registered address that should arrive within 1 or 2 business days.
A Sagawa Express courier will enter information on the customer’s ID verification document into a mobile device.
If the information on the provided ID verification document matches the customer’s registered information, the courier will then hand over the letter.
Once the customer has received the letter and our approval is complete, the customer will be able to trade crypto assets (virtual currency).
*Please use the most recent version of your ID verification document.
*When using a Japanese driver’s license as an ID verification document, the Sagawa Express courier may use the OCR feature on their mobile device to scan the information on the driver’s license. The information obtained in this way is not stored on the mobile device.
*Depending on the ID verification document used, the Sagawa Express courier will input the following information into their mobile device.
• Japanese driver’s license: driver’s license number
• Individual Number (My Number) card: security code and expiration date
• Japanese passport: passport number
*If there is any discrepancy between the customer’s registered information and the information on the ID verification document, the letter can not be handed over. In this case, please revise your registered information and/or update your ID verification document and request another in-person ID verification.
*This service is not available to customers residing in mountain ranges or remote islands that Sagawa Express does not deliver to.
*The in-person ID verification process requires a Sagawa Express courier to obtain personal information from your ID verification document and your account information.
*Passports issued from February 4, 2020 onward do not include the holder’s address. When applying for in-person ID verification, please ensure you have additional documentation issued within the last six months that contains your address (tax payment certificates, national pension receipts, utility receipts, etc.).
