Hashrate is a unit used to measure computing power, often in units of hash/s (1 hash per second). It is commonly combined with prefixes such as K (kilo), M (mega), G (giga), T (terra), and others, and is abbreviated as KHs. A hashrate approaching 10 TH/s means calculations are performed at 10 trillion hashes per second.
The amount of Bitcoin mined is calculated based on mining speed and level of difficulty. Since the hashrate is largely determined by the device used for Bitcoin mining, the hashrate is often used as benchmark for the selection of Bitcoin mining machines.
