About Passkeys
What Is a Passkey?
Passkey is a verification method that confirms a user’s identity through face recognition, fingerprint recognition, or screen-unlock PIN on their smartphone or computer.
Compared with conventional verification codes, passkeys are more resistant to phishing scams and help reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
Customers with a registered passkey also no longer need to check and enter verification codes, making the process faster and smoother.
Key Features of Passkeys
1. Strong protection against phishing
Passkeys are linked to the official bitFlyer website and app, so they can't be used on fake websites. This helps reduce the risk of unauthorized access through phishing scams.
2. No verification codes to enter
With a registered passkey, you don't need to check and enter a verification code from SMS, email, or other means. Instead, you can verify smoothly with face recognition, fingerprint recognition, or similar.
Your face and fingerprint data stays on your device and is never sent to bitFlyer.
Supported Actions
Passkey verification is available for the following actions:
Sending crypto assets to external addresses
Registering external destination addresses for sending crypto assets
Withdrawing Japanese yen
Registering a passkey is optional. Customers who cannot use a passkey can use their existing two-factor authentication method instead.
At this time, passkeys cannot be used to log in.
