ASIC

ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit. It is a generic name for any type of electronic component where circuits with multiple functions are combined into one specific application.

If Bitcoin mining is limited to machines bundled with ASICs, it is difficult to recover the electricity costs compared to common PCs and GPUs. ASICs are also unable to operate independently. At the very least, they need a laptop to operate.
