GRAM
Gram (GRAM) is the native token of "The Open Network (TON)," a blockchain platform developed by the messaging app Telegram. It adopts Proof of Stake (PoS) and dynamic sharding technology to deliver fast transaction processing and low transaction fees.
After development began in 2018, Telegram withdrew from the project in 2020 due to a legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the TON Foundation took over development under a community-led model. Telegram subsequently came to play a central role once again, and since 2025 all of Telegram's Web3 features have been integrated into the TON blockchain. In June 2026, the token's name was officially changed from Toncoin to Gram by community vote (81.22% in favor).
GRAM Inflation and Burn: Mechanism and Details
GRAM has no maximum supply cap. Approximately 0.3–0.6% of GRAM is newly issued each year as rewards to the validators and others who maintain network security, which results in inflation. At the same time, a portion of transaction fees is burned, which can partially offset new issuance depending on network usage. As a result, the effective supply of GRAM fluctuates according to the balance between new issuance and the amount burned. Please note that GRAM may therefore be inflationary or deflationary depending on network conditions.
